[The following press release was issued by the Lebanese Center for Policy Studies on 23 October 2012.]
The Lebanese Center for Policy Studies (LCPS) has launched its new website: www.lcps-lebanon.org. The new site revisits LCPS’ twenty-three years of endeavors in a new and dynamic format in alignment with the center’s original mission: to disseminate innovative research work and information on public policy issues in Lebanon and the region.
LCPS is the oldest, independent, non-profit, non-partisan think tank in Lebanon. The Global Think Tank Survey has consistently ranked it the number one Lebanese think tank. Since 1989, it has demonstrated an impressive track record of leadership in producing and disseminating policy knowledge in the political, economic, and social spheres in Lebanon and the Arab world.
The site houses information on all the research projects, publications, activities, and advocacy campaigns the center has been involved in, as well as links to lots of other interesting material.
A number of new highlights will appear regularly updated on the website, including a Featured Analysis, Setting the Agenda, interactive Quick Lebanon Facts, and a Newsfeed showcasing relevant material from think tanks and other outside sources. LCPS Executive Director Sami Atallah kicked off the Featured Analysis section with a commentary on decentralization in Lebanon. The Setting the Agenda section will lay out LCPS’ current policy focus and detail present activities and plans for future initiatives related to this focus. The section of Quick Lebanon Facts will provide visitors to the site with a variety of brief and easy-to-read statistics about Lebanese society and people’s sentiments around current issues (e.g. according to a recent report, fifty percent of Lebanese think the economic situation is the most important challenge facing the country).
Additionally, visitors will be able to access LCPS’ multi-annual newsletters as they are published, learn about recent research and publications, read descriptions of LCPS-run activities like conferences and workshops, and find links to other related or relevant organizations, both Lebanese and international. Please keep in mind that the center is still in the process of archiving more dated publications, with the long term goal of having all materials, including books, from LCPS’ inception in 1989 until today available online in both English and Arabic.
We hope you can enjoy and make use of LCPS’ new website and we look forward to your feedback.
